Fabrianne Peterson Nampitjinpa

Fabrianne Peterson Nampitjinpa was born in 1965 at the famous Papunya Indigenous artist community, 240km west of Alice Springs.

As a young adult, Fabrianne attended Yirara College, where she completed Year 10. Later Fabrianne worked at the local school as a teacher’s aide, as her English was very good.

After leaving Yirara she started painting at Mount Leibig which is further west of Papunya, towards Kintore. Later she moved to Kintore with her husband.

Her stories are of the Willy Wagtail from the Mount Liebig area, (Watiyawanu), and the Bush Damper, Witchetty Grub, Bush Banana, the Honey Ant and stories connected to her custodial land Kunatjarrayi (Mount Nicker).

Fabrianne paints using a very detailed and precise dotting technique in bright modern colours, creating geometric patterns with a seemingly three-dimensional effect.

Her paintings are exhibited and held in major collections world-wide.
